Injuries/Chatter
Dodgers 1B Max Muncy hurt his elbow in a collision at first base yesterday and was pulled from the game. Manager Dave Roberts says Muncy is very unlikely for the Wild Card game, and he’s also unlikely for the division series if the Dodgers win on Wednesday.
Red Sox DH JD Martinez left yesterday’s game with a sprained ankle and manager Alex Cora says he’s unsure if he can play in the Wild Card game on Tuesday.
The Orioles locked up the #1 pick in the 2022 MLB Draft.
Angels RHP/DH Shohei Ohtani told reporters he is “very open” to negotiating a long-term contract with the club this offseason.
The Phillies fired hitting coach Joe Dillon and infield coach Juan Castro. Assistant hitting coach Pedro Guerrero was given permission to look for a job elsewhere, as the new hitting coach will have the option to pick his assistant. Manager Joe Girardi said everyone else on the staff will return.
INF Brandon Snyder has retired. Snyder spent most of his career in the minor leagues.
Reds OF Nick Castellanos is unsure if he will opt out of his contract this offseason.
Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon plans to exercise his option for next season and return to Colorado.
Hanley Ramirez will play winter ball in the Domincan Republic in a comeback attempt, per Hector Gomez.
