Expansion fees for new teams could rise to the $2.2 billion range, says commissioner Rob Manfred.
Manfred also says 70% of players, on-field staff and support personnel have been fully or partially vaccinated for COVID.
Despite optimism over the weekend for a Tuesday debut, Blue Jays OF George Springer remains sidelined. Ben Wagner notes Springer’s quad is still not feeling 100% after running at TD Ballpark early yesterday.
Marlins SS Jazz Chisholm left last night’s game with a strained hamstring.
Braves RHP Mike Soroka is not expected to pitch for the Braves at the major league level before June, reports Jon Morosi.
No structural damage for RHP Jake Odorizzi, reports Jon Heyman. Odorizzi was placed on the IL due to a forearm issue, but Heyman notes he may only miss 2-3 starts.
Pirates 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes should start taking swings this week, per Alex Stumpf.
Mets OF Brandon Nimmo had an MRI on his hip which revealed a mild impingement, manager Luis Rojas told reporters. He will be available off the bench.
RHP Lance Lynn (trapezius) will return to the White Sox rotation on Saturday.
Dodgers OF Cody Bellinger (calf) will go to the team’s alternate site later this week to get some live ABs, manager Dave Roberts told reporters.
Nationals SS Trea Turner (forearm) is back in the lineup for the Nationals. He left Sunday’s game early after being hit by a pitch.
Twins OF Byron Buxton (knee) was back in the lineup after missing Monday’s game and hit his seventh home run of the season.
Brewers OF Lorenzo Cain should return on the team’s next road trip, manager Craig Counsell told reporters.
Cubs SS Javier Baez (hamstring) remains out of the Cubs lineup.
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli told reporters that RHP Alex Colome will be moved from the closer role to a more lower-leverage role for the time being. Colome has a bloated 6.75 ERA to begin the season.
