The Chicago Cubs have a new PBP guy to go on their new tv network. Marquee Sports Network announced today that it had signed Jon “Boog” Sciambi to handle the Cubs games for the network. Sciambi will reportedly continue doing Sunday night games with ESPN, as well as some college basketball games for the worldwide leader.
Liam Hendricks, the top reliever on the free agent market, was seen visiting the Blue Jays new complex in Dunedin, FL, per Shi Davidi. The Dodgers also have strong interest in Hendricks.
Mark Feinsand says several teams are interested in Yasiel Puig, including the Red Sox, Yankees, Astros, Marlins, & Orioles.
The Tigers signed five players to minor league deals, including LHP Lock St. John. The Tigers originally drafted St. John in the 32rd round of the 2014 MLB draft. He has pitched 6.2 innings in the majors, registering a 5.40 ERA with the Rangers in 2019.
Per Jon Heyman, SP Tomoyuki Sugano is expected to decide by tomorrow where he will sign.
Heyman also says LHP Adam Morgan’s deal with the Cubs will be “900k plus many bonuses” if he’s in the majors.
Tigers OF Daz Cameron is getting his sore right arm examined.
RHP Daniel Gossett has signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox, per Bob Nightengale. The Red Sox drafted Gossett in 2011, but he opted to go to Clemson instead. Gossett hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since 2018.
The Marlins are interested in OF Adam Duvall.
Jed Hoyer says the Yu Darvish trade wasn’t financially motivated. Ok. Sure.
