RHP Michael Fulmer agrees to a one year, $3.1 million contract with Detroit, avoiding arbitration. Fulmer posted a 8.78 ERA in 27.2 innings last season. He missed all of 2019 after having Tommy John surgery.
Everything Else
Giants C prospect Joey Bart is likely to return to the minors to begin the 2021 season, says Jon Morosi. Bart was the #2 pick in the 2018 MLB draft. Bart appeared in 33 games last year, slasing .233/.288/.320 and a 69 OPS+ in 111 PA.
Buster Olney says the sense around baseball is that the Red Sox are preparing for a series of moves before the start of spring training. The expectation is an effort will be made to improve the 2021 roster.
Hisashi Iwakuma is joining the Mariners as a special assignment coach.
RHP Antonio Senzatela agreed to a one year, $3 million deal with the Rockies to avoid arbitration. Senzatela started 12 games for the Rockies last season, posting a 3.44 ERA and 153 ERA+.
The Tigers will be at Corey Kluber’s showcase in Florida. So will the Twins. And Cubs.
Mark Feinsand says he’s been told by an executive he’d be “shocked” if Andrew Benintendi isn’t traded by the weekend.
Daz Cameron will be ready to compete in spring training next month, says Chris McCosky. Cameron had to leave his winter league team because of arm soreness.
Chris Sale is on pace to throw off of a mound later this month for the first time since having Tommy John surgery, per Chris Cotillo.
