The Most Important Thing
Brett Anderson is returning to Milwaukee, reports Jeff Passan. Anderson started 10 games for the Brewers last season, posting a 4.29 ERA and a 15.8 K%. His 5.0 BB% was the third lowest of his career. He will likely be the fourth of fifth starter in the Milwaukee rotation.
Everything Else
Matt Davidson will sign a minor league deal with a spring training invite with the Dodgers, per Mark Feinsand.
INF Travis Shaw will sign with the Brewers, per Robert Murray.
LHP TJ McFarland will sign a minor league deal with the Nationals, per Chris Cotillo. McFarland spent last season in Oakland, with a 96 ERA+ and 6.34 FIP over 20.2 IP.
RHP Aaron Sanchez will sign a one year, $4 million deal with the Giants, reports Susan Slusser.
Slussler also reports that RHP Nick Tropeano will sign a minor league deal with the Giants.
The one year, $3.5 million deal between the A’s and Mike Fiers is now official.
Jon Heyman notes Melky Cabrera is looking for a job in the the majors. Cabrera hit .308 in the Dominican and Mexico this winter. He last appeared in the majors with Pittsburgh in 2019.
Toronto RHP Shun Yamaguchi has cleared release waivers and is now a free agent.
The Red Sox are rumored to have interest in RHP Ben Heller.
Tigers’ GM Al Avila says the team is considering using a six-man rotation for the 2021 season.
RHP Jesse Chavez had a pitching showcase for teams today, per Jesse Rogers. Chavez has pitched for 9 different teams since 2008.
The Miami Marlins are planning to allow 20% capacity for home games this season.
The Yankees announced several invitations to spring training.
